Bottle Up My Tears

As I was singing at the Alamosa Church one afternoon last year, I was moved to tears. The song  was about God’s call of Joshua.  The lyrics say,
Be strong my son, be courageous
Stand tall son, stand tall.
Be strong my son, be courageous
Stand tall son, stand tall.
I will never leave you, I will never forsake
I am with you til' the end, I am with you til' the end of the age.
These words are precious to me because they capture the essense of my call to Prayer Ministry. When I was considering accepting the invitation to be the Prayer Coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Conference, the Lord led me to this verse in the book of Joshua:
““No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. “Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.” (Joshua 1:5-6 NAS95S)
In this passage I heard the Lord saying, as I was with Ed Gallagher (the prayer coordinator before me), so I will be with you Jim. Be strong… Be courageous.

As I sang those words, as the Lord took my heart back to his calling, the tears came, my heart burst with gratitude, joy, and utter awe at the grace of God.

When I finished singing… In the silence I felt impressed to open the Bible. The passage in front of me was Psalm 56:8:  “You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?”  In that moment, the tears stopped. All was peace. God was giving me the strength and courage I was singing of.

May He give you that strength and courage as well. May you know He catches your tears in a bottle. May you have the assurance that every heartache, every struggle, every difficulty is remembered by your Savior. May you know you are not alone. May you feel His heart beating for you in your brokenness. May He bottle up your tears...

verse 1
No tear shed, No need pled,
No prayer I pray, that You ever forget.
No heart broken, No grief spoken
No one alone, that You have not chosen
Bottle up my tears

Chorus
Bottle up my tears... let me feel your heart
Beating for me here, in my brokenness
Lord...  gather up my prayers
and let Your love impart, faith through every fear
Jesus... bottle up my tears.

verse 2
Through every wandering, and every pleading
Lord You catch these tears, You draw me near
And when I cry out, there's no doubt
That the enemy must flee, 'cause Jesus, You are for me

bridge
And just now, As the tears flow
Lord, I'm crying out, Never let me go
Oh just now, As the tears flow
Lord, I'm crying out, Never let me go
Drown me in Your Holiness
Drown me in Your Holiness
O Jesus, drown me in Your Holiness,
and bottle up my tears
